Alabama Clinical Schools offers a wide range of programs for children and teens who are struggling with complicated behavioral and mental health issues. Our programs take a cognitive behavioral approach to treatment, working closely with our patients to change their thinking patterns and intervene in disruptive behaviors. Our treatment team develops individualized treatment plans for each patient, combining individual, group and family therapy with other treatment modalities to help youth change their lives. Family involvement is key to all of our programs, so we do our best to foster close relationships and participation with guardians and caretakers.

Alabama Clinical Schools offers two residential treatment programs for young males who are experiencing severe behavioral issues or have been exhibiting sexually reactive behaviors. These longer-term programs provide 24-hour care that immerses patients in a therapeutic environment that inspires change. We also offer two foster care programs for youth, which provide similar levels of therapeutic treatment but within a home setting. Alabama Clinical Schools Also provides Education Services for our residents, allowing them to stay up to date on academics while also receiving the structured treatment they need to make meaningful change.

Inpatient Residential Programs

Residential Treatment Program: For males ages 9 to 18 who display sexually reactive behaviors. Designed to change thinking patterns, emotions and behavioral responses to interrupt destructive patterns.

RISE Residential Treatment Program: Co-developed by the State Department of Human Resources for males ages 13 to 18 who may have been denied admission or discharged from other placements due to severe behavioral issues or more complex mental health issues.

Outpatient Foster Care Programs

Therapeutic Foster Care Program: Provides a broader continuum of care for Alabama youth, up to age 21, whose primary therapeutic needs are varied and may not include sexually inappropriate behaviors. Youth in this program attend public school and receive therapy through our facility.

Specialized Treatment Foster Care Program: Designed to serve the needs of younger, sexually reactive males ages 6 to 14 within the context of a single occupancy foster home living arrangement. All treatment modalities of our residential program, regular case management services and educational programming are available.
